About
The Barbara J. Driscoll Humanitarian Award
Barbara J. Driscoll
When Barbara J. Driscoll died in 2014, her family wanted to remember her with a named endowment fund for CDR. Today, the Barbara J. Driscoll Endowment Fund‘s principal contributions alone are worth more than $152,900, thanks to the Driscoll family and generous friends. They are proud to remember Barbara, a former Chair of the Board of Directors, in a way that will continue to help children in perpetuity.
In addition, the Driscoll family created the Barbara J. Driscoll Humanitarian Award. The annual award recognizes a CDR volunteer that is nominated by members of the CDR staff and Board as possessing one or more key elements of Barbara’s indomitable spirit and character. Examples of these include commitment to CDR’s mission, patience, respect for others, a positive and optimistic attitude, willingness to help others, uplifting appreciation of and accomplishment of others, dedication to excellence in their work and honesty and integrity.
Past recipients of this prestigious award are Charles Crone (2016), Rita Francavilla (2017), Eddie Robinson (2018), Marc Sharp (2019), and Anne Bradstreet Smith (2020), Deborah Nice (2021), Gary Massie (2022), Virginia McLaughlin (2023) and Alex Hutcherson (2024).
