Corinne W. Garland Endowment Fund for Children

The Corinne W. Garland Endowment Fund for Children
Securing the Future:
In 2005 the CDR board of directors voted to name the Endowment Fund in honor of Corinne W. Garland upon her retirement as executive director of CDR (1972-1983 and 1985-2006). The Fund will continue the outstanding legacy Corinne Garland began as a groundbreaking initiative so many years ago.
Securing the Future is dedicated to creating permanent resources to meet the future challenges and needs of young children with disabilities and those who are at risk for developmental delays and their families. Gifts from individual, corporate donors, and foundations to the Fund will secure the future for children and families in the greater Williamsburg community, and continue CDR’s dedication to excellence in early childhood education throughout the nation. Your help is needed for the children and families of generations to come.
A gift to The Corinne W. Garland Endowment Fund for Children enables you to be a part of CDR’s future forever. Whether your gift is used to provide special services to infants and toddlers with disabilities and support for their families, to provide early learning and care for children of the working poor, or to assure that every young child in our community enters kindergarten ready and able to learn – no matter where or when in the future, you can be there to help.

The Benjamin & Mary Winsten Society

The Benjamin & Mary Winsten Society was founded to give special recognition to donors who have provided for the future needs of children and families in our community through a gift of $1,000 or more to the CDR Endowment Fund, or who have made arrangements to include CDR in their will or estate plans. Benjamin Winsten, Ph.D. was a psychologist who developed curricula for young children who were at risk. He and his wife provided generously for CDR through their will.
In 2003, CDR received the proceeds of the Winsten estate, a total of $440,000. Their gift has been added to the CDR Endowment Fund, to produce an annual income to help meet the most urgent needs of children and families.
